Don Hurlburt
Coach Hurlburt is in his
second year of teaching Special
Education and coaching basketball at
Etowah. He earned his BA degree in
History from Canisius College in
Buffalo, NY, where he also played
college basketball. After college, he
played for five years and coached for
one year in Switzerland in the
European Leagues. Having coached at
the AAU, Club, College and
International levels, Don is in his
first year as the Varsity Boys Coach
at Etowah. He is married to Teri and
they have three children, Mike,
Lindsay, and Chris.
Bob Westbrook
Coach Westbrook
(44) graduated from University of
Georgia and currently teaches
PE/Health here at Etowah. He received
his Master degree in Administration
from Lincoln Memorial. He is
currently finishing up his Specialist
in Administration from Lincoln
Memorial. Coach Westbrook has coached
varsity basketball for 20 years. He
has coached at George Walton Academy
in Monroe, GA, Piedmont Academy in
Monticello, GA, and at Gilmer High
School in Ellijay GA. He has won over
300 games, 8 region championships and
taken his teams to the state
tournament 13 times. Coach
Westbrooks record here at
Etowah is 60-24. His wife Machael is
a teacher at ET Booth Middle School.
He and his wife take care of 5 boys:
Jake 17, Dylan 16, Joey 15, Colby 13,
Jeremy 13.
Michael Tuley
Coach Tuley is a
graduate of Wheeler High School in
Marietta and a graduate of Kennesaw
State University in Kennesaw, Ga. He
is married to Rebecca and they have
two children, Darby, 12, and Shane,
9. Coach Tuley is in his second year
of coaching basketball at Etowah and
currently teaches Special Education.
He and his family attend Wildwood
Baptist Church.
JJ Cantrell
JJ Cantrell
(26) is a former player here at
Etowah, where he played Football,
Basketball, and Baseball. He received
his Associates Degree in Education
and played baseball at Young Harris
College. He then played baseball at
Columbus State University, where he
received his BS in Mental
Retardation. He earned his Masters
degree from North Georgia College in
Interrelated Special Education. He is
currently finishing up his Specialist
in Administration from Lincoln
Memorial. JJ has coached football,
baseball, and golf here at Etowah.
Coach Cantrell has piled up a 48-2
record as the JV coach the last 3
seasons. His wife, Kristin, just gave
birth to their first child, a son
Evan William this summer. The
Cantrells live in Canton.
Gerald Sharpe
Coach Sharpe is in his
first year of teaching Special
Education at Etowah. He earned his
Bachelor's degree from Armstrong
State and has a M.Ed from North
Georgia College. With 20 years of
basketball coaching experience on the
High School and College levels, both
as an Assistant and Head Coach, he
most recently was the Athletic
Director at Reinhardt College. He and
his wife, Nancy, have been married
for 21 years and have two children,
Lindsey and Ryan.
Donna Ross
Coach Ross (27)
is a graduate of nearby Milton High
School, where she played basketball,
softball, and ran track. She played
basketball for two years at Wesleyan
College. Donna then transferred to
Kennesaw State University where she
was very active in the athletic
training program. She graduated from
KSU with a BS in Health and Physical
Education. Donna is teaching Health
at ET Booth Middle School. Coach Ross
has moved up to the JV after coaching
the freshman the last three years.
She and her husband, Chuck, live in
Woodstock.
Rob Graner
Coach Graner is
a graduate of Springfield College in
Springfield, MA with a B.S. in Phys.
Ed/Health (1993). He has a M.A. in
Health Studies from the University of
Alabama (2003).
Coach Graner has coached at all
levels at Etowah starting as a
Freshman boys coach, then to
the Junior Varsity and becoming Head
boys Varsity coach in 1999
until 2002. During his tenure as head
varsity coach he led the Eagles to
the State Tournament the only two
times in the school's history and
reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2001.
Coach Graner was named Coach of the
Year in Cherokee County for the
2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons in
boys basketball. He also
coaches Girls Golf at Etowah.
Coach Graner has been married to
Louise Hale for 8 years. They have a
daughter Kate (5yrs) and son Andrew
(1 ½).
