Etowah Tip Off Club

 Meeting, Monday, October 3, 2011

Opening Remarks: Alisa Anderson reported that $1,300 was made at the game against Walton.
Coach’s Report: Coach Westbrook said lots of girls showed up at the meeting for potential players. He hopes to find a place for all. EHS will participate in an FCA golf tournament at Bridgemill on October 4, 2011. Half of the money raised will go to basketball and half will go to baseball.

Coach Hurlburt asked for volunteers for the FCA golf tournament and said 4 students had offered their time. Ten students volunteered their time for a softball tournament held last weekend at J. J. Biello Park. Donations from the park were made to EHS basketball program. Community Service hours were given to those who volunteered.

Schedules for all teams were handed out although more games may be added.

Thanks went out to Kevin Jones and Mark Crumpton who helped with getting delivery of the Vertimax on October 4. Boy players need to raise $3,000 to pay for the Vertimax.

Tryouts will begin October 24 and Coach Hurlburt reminded everyone about physical forms and report cards.

Varsity boys will be getting new away uniforms – Underarmor royal blue, black and gold. Team shoe will be $64 and included in team package.
Junior Eagles: Carl Rush says he is not in charge of hiring scorekeepers or referees for the Bascomb program and asked that anyone interested contact David Richitelli.

Chapman 5th and 6th grade teams have been chosen. Carl would like to have help November 5 & 6 for rec team skill assessments and draft.

Cherokee Parks and Recreation will offer 9-12 rec teams and Carl has a flyer for more info. Probably boys teams, possibly girls as well.

YBOA director for our area, William Fox wants Carl to host YBOA tournaments at EHS. This is an excellent fundraiser. He is working on a Christmas Tournament at EHS. Tournament will be 3-4 days.
Basketball Program: Janice Detz has new player forms. Players will need to solicit ads for the program. She encouraged players and parents to support our sponsors.
Eaglemania: The Donelys need a committee to help organize. Teams may or may not have scrimmage games. Eaglemania will likely be held in mid-November.
Concessions: Alisa Anderson passed around a volunteer sign-up sheet for football concessions. Expressed need for a lot of help with the homecoming game, Oct. 14 and the game against Woodstock, October 21.

Opening Remarks: Rich Miramonti opened the meeting thanking everyone who had volunteered for the Vollyball tournament held at EHS 9-3-2011. Chris Kiser says the tournament made $1, 284.
Coach’s Report: Coach Westbrook said selected girls will begin playing in a high school league at All Tournament Players Park (ATPP). Girls’ schedule will be completed and available soon. The Varsity girls will be playing a game at Philips Arena this season. Tryouts will begin October 24 and a large turnout is expected. There are no returning starters and this will be a very young team.

Coach Hurlburt reports that Junior and Senior boys’ clinic info is available. He is waiting on county approval for the purchase of a Vertimax (vertimax.com) training system. Players will participate in a fundraiser selling ESPN Magazine subscriptions – 2 years for $40. The basketball program will keep $30 from each sale. Each player will be expected to sell a minimum of 3 subscriptions. Basketball will also do an e-mail campaign to sell the subscriptions. Checks can be made out to the Tip Off Club.

Tryouts will begin October 24. Former players will be working with the boys’ teams. Potential players need to have physical forms (must be on yellow form) and academic forms from the Administration Office.

Boys are planning on a 24-25 game schedule. December 3, 2011 will be the game at Philips Arena. Girls will play at 3:00PM and boys at 4:30PM. Coach is hoping for more AAU tournaments to be held at EHS. Christmas Tournament still pending.
Junior Eagles: Tournament approval  pending.
Concession Stand: Alisa Anderson will need help on Sunday, September 18 moving concessions from new gym to the football concession stand visitor’s site. A blast will be sent out asking for help for the games on 9-23, Homecoming 10-14 and 10-21 against Woodstock. Kani House will sell at home games.

Opening Remarks: Chris Brasher opened the meeting and introduced all present board members to all new participants. Chris and board approved Lynne Anderson as new 2011-12 secretary and webmaster.
Coach’s Report: Coach Hurlburt welcomed new parents and mentioned boys meeting after Tip-Off club meeting.
The coaches explained fall league:
$500 1 girls team (20 girls) playing at ATPP
$500 1 Freshman boys team playing at ATPP
$500 1 Varsity boys team – Pope Varsity League
*Players will pay fees.
Coach Hurlburt mentioned the new AD, Robert VanAlstyne who has a strong basketball background.
Saturday Dec. 3 our varsity teams will play Blessed Trinity at Philips Arena. Tip-off club will pay $200 deposit towards the 150 tickets we are required to sell. Players will sell tickets for $20 each. This is to get into the arena and entry to a Hawks game to be announced later. Rich and Alisa discussed an incentive to motivate the players to sell extra tickets to the event as a fundraiser.
Financial Report: Chris Kiser reports that $1,200 was spent this summer on camps. The balance in the account is $6,131.77.
Junior Eagles: Carl Rush discussed the opportunity to host a 6th-8th grade CCJBC Christmas tournament in EHS gym. Games will most likely be played Dec. 26-30, 6-10pm and one afternoon. The tournament could possibly net $4,500-$5,000. Need an answer by October.
Carl mentioned an opportunity to help host a Cherokee County Tournament with Creekview in November. May need over-flow gym available.
Bascomb is no longer being run by the Jr. Eagles program. The PTA has taken it over. They are still interested in having EHS students keeping score and refereeing games. Carl will get a list of interested players. Jr. Eagles will still run the Chapman and Booth leagues. Jr. Eagles will do the Hawks game again this year.

 Concessions: Alisa Anderson discussed football concessions.
Band will run first 2 varsity games as well as Jr. Eagles games on Saturdays.
Basketball will run last 3 Varsity games (Walton, Marietta and Woodstock) as well as 6 Freshman/JV games.

Help needed for the following dates:
JV – Thursdays @ 6pm, September 8, 22 and 29.
Freshman – Thursdays @6pm, September 15, October 6 and 13.
Varsity – Sept. 23 vs Walton, October 14 vs Marietta (homecoming)
and October 21 vs Woodstock.

Varsity games require a lot of help. JV/Freshman games only need a few people.
Alisa discussed and opportunity mentioned to her by Mark Kimber to host a 16 team Volleyball tournament in both gyms in early September. We would keep all concessions and gate.

Chris Brasher asked for any new business and adjourned meeting at 8pm.

Etowah Tip Off Club (Basketball Booster) Meeting
Monday, May 2, 2011, 7:00pm

Attendees:  Chris Brasher, Rich Miramonti, Tony Mele, Kathy Faisal, Dave Salyers, Chris Kiser, Keith Taylor, Susan Roberts, Coach Hurlburt.

Coach's update:  Coach Hurlburt talked about having conditioning sessions for the boys aon Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 the next 4 weeks.  Beginning the week of May 31 there will be evening workouts, 5:30 to 7 for rising 9th graders, and 7 to 8:30 for rising 10th through 12th grades.  The boys will play less games in June and there will be no away camp this summer.  Etowah will be hosting the summer camps the weeks of June 6, June 13 and June 20.  We will post the registration dates on the website.

Treasurer's Update:  Chris Kiser submitted the 2010-2011 year end numbers.  The budget will be presentd at the next meeting.  The books close on May 31, 2011.  All expenses have been paid for the year.

Opening Remarks:  Rich Miramonti opened the meeting.  

Coach's Update:  Coach Westbrook thanked everyone for all the great work on the regional tournament.  All feedback was great.  The girls had a great season, winning the region tournament at home and having the first rounds of the state playoffs at home.  It was a very special season.

Jr. Eagles Update:  Carl Rush reported that most of the Junior Eagles teams did will in their tournaments.

Treasurer's Report:  Chris Kiser reported net earnings of $11,261 from concessions for the year.  

Election of Secretary/Webmaster:  All officers will be returning next year except Susan Roberts, Secretary and Webmaster. We will need to fill this position.  

Awards Banquet:  The banquet date has been changd due to other sport conflicts, it will now be on 4/11/11.  We will need to email the invitations.  They will be due by March 30, before spring break.  We will send a reminder during spring break and put it on the website.  The budget for the banquet in $3500.

Senior Gifts:  Lisa Langston needs Senior pictures from some boys and a few girls.  Email Lisa pictures for the slide show collage.

Opening Remarks:  Alisa Anderson opened the meeting.  Congratulations to Coach Westbrook on his 500th career win.  Thanks to everyone who worked on Senior night, all went very well.

Coach's Update:  Coach Westbrook commended those that worked on Senior night.  It was a great night for all the seniors.  The region tournament is coming up.  The book is covered for all games, we will need someone to run the clock for 2 games on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Treasurer's Report:  Chris Kiser reported concessions have netted approximately $4500 for the year.  The reverse raffle netted $5337. 

Nominations for Board Members:  The position of Secretary/Webmaster will be open next year.  We will be taking nominations for this position and voting at the next meeting. 

Region Tournament:  The schedule for games will be posted on the website.  The tournament will run from Tuesday, Feb. 15 through Saturday, Feb. 19.  We have committee heads that will be scheduling people to work.  All player parents will be required to work. If you do not volunteer for a certain date and time, you will be assigned one. 

Jr. Eagles Update:  Carl Rush gave an update on the Jr. Eagles program.  Jr. Eagles will be donating $2500 to the Tip Off Club.  There will also be a check for $720 for the Jr. Eagle memberships.  Congratulations to the 6th and 7th grade boys winning the region, and to the 6th and 8th grade girls for coming in 2nd place in the region.  The Bascomb rec program run by the Jr. Eagles will possibly be going away next year.  The gym fees have become too high.  ATPP will do a rec league for this age group next year.  They will give $10/kid to the Jr. Eagles program for each kid signed up.  They will use the high school kids as refs also.  They will be able to have longer practice times and more open gym times at ATPP.  Jr. Eagles will still maintain the Chapman and Booth leagues. 

Region Tournament Sponsors:  Janice Detz spoke about our sponsors for the hospitality rooms for the region tournament.  We have 7 restaurants signed up.

New Business:  The end of season banquet has been set for March 28, 2011

Opening Remarks:  Chris Brasher opened the meeting with thanks to all those that helped during Eaglemania.

Coach's Update:  Coach Hurlburt spoke regarding boys teams.  Varsity boys have 4 games in the next 8 days.  The boys played well against Roswell, many games coming up. 

Jr. Eagles Update:  The rec league teams will be getting passes for the home games.  This was included in their fees.  Many of the rec teams are being coached by high school players.

Treasurer's Report:  To date, concessions have netted $3472.  We collected $253 in the raffle at Eaglelmania.  The girls purchased new uniforms this year.  The total cost is $6000, the school will pay for $2500 toward the cost of the uniforms.

Reverse Raffle:  Rich Miramonti spoke about the raffle.  There is one week left to sell the tickets.  Every player should sell at least 5 tickets, varsity boys need to sell at least 10.  You do not have to be present to win. 

Spirit Wear:  Spirit wear will be on sale at the home games.

Scorekeeper/ Spotter:  We are in need of a person to run the player's board and spotters for home games. 

Concessions:  The concession stand schedule is posted on the website.

Opening Remarks:  Chris Brasher opened the meeting at 7:00.  He welcomed all newcomers and introduced the board members. 

Coach's Update:  Coach Westbrook thanked all the newcomers for attending and thanked the booster club for all they do.  Season well start on Saturday with Eaglemania.  The girls will be scrimmaging Harrison HS at 4:00.  The player packages are being put together and will have that for the parents soon.  Coach Hurlburt spoke about the boys program.  There were 70-73 boys that tried out for the basketball teams.  It was the highest number in many years.  The teams have now been selected.  Freshman boys will practice after school in the old gym.  JV/ Varsity will practice at 4:30-6:30 on the new gym.  Opening night is in 2 weeks at Sequoyah.  The boys need to bring in a check for $70 to get their shoes.  Their other gear will be in soon.

Jr. Eagle Update:  Carl Rush spoke about Hawks night for the Junior Eagles.  It will be on January 8th.  The 7th and 8th grade Jr. Eagles will be scrimmaging at half time.  Tickets will be $14 each for family members.  The Jr. Eagles plan to give a $2500 contribution to the Tip Off Club for the upcoming year.  The Bascomb League has become very expensive and the Jr. Eagles are looking into other alternatives.  Chapman and Booth will continue next year as planned. Referee training is complete.  If your child did not go to training they will not be eligible to referee.  There are a limited number of games and hours this year.

Treasurer's Report:  To date, the Tip Off Club has made $1325 in sheet sales and netted $1900 in concessions sales. 

Eaglemania:  Alisa Anderson went over the schedule for Eaglemania.  Noted that the schedule had been moved up one hour.  The girls state championship team from 2005 will be introduced at halftime of the girls scrimmage.  We need help with membership sales, sheet sales, ticket sales and spirit wear.

Advertising:  Everyone needs to get at least one ad for the basketball program.  The sound boards in the gym are available.

Football Concessions:  We need volunteers at Varsity Football concessions for the playoffs.

New Business:  Keith Taylor brought refreshments for all.  Welcome to all Freshman parents.  We need to put a cooler down by the scorer's table for those working.

Opening Remarks:  Alisa Anderson opened the meeting. 

Coach's Update:  Coach Westbrook gave the coach's update.  On October 25th tryouts begin.  For the girls program they are currently in need of a new stats program.  They are still looking for the right one.  There will be open gyms for the girls on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm.  For the boys, you will need to check with Coach Hurlburt.  Everyone trying out needs to be getting in shape before tryouts begin. 

Jr. Eagle Update:  Carl Rush reported they will need volunteers for the 7th and 8th grade rec registration.  Hawks night will be Jan. 8th. for Jr. Eagles.  They are purchasing 320 tickets and will donate some to the Tip Off Club.  Trey Olson is in charge of training refs for Bascomb.  We need to send an email about training for scorekeepers for Chapman, Boston and Bascomb.

Treasurer's Report:  Chris Kiser reports collection of $1160 for sheet sales, Concession - $1345 from the Cherokee game.  The tournament fees have been paid for the varsity boys tournament.

Eaglemania:  November 13th.  We need to get this out to both Booth and Chapman's PTA.  There ar 3 Jr. Eagle parents on the committee.  There will be an alumni game.  Sponsors are needed for free throw, 3 pt contests and raffle items.  We will send out an email for helpers for Eaglemania and have a meeting soon.

Advertising and spponsorship/Program:  Janice Detz reports, all players are responsible for getting one ad for the program.  The form will be posted online.

Football Concessions:  We are in need of a cooker at the JV games, 4:00 start time.  Contact Alisa if you can help.

New Business:  Boys Tournament in Daytona Beach.  Advance reservations will be necessary.  Transportation to away games:  No Kids are to be driving themselves to any games.

Opening Remarks:  Chris Brasher opened the meeting at 7:00. 

Coach's Update:  Coach Westbrook spoke about the girls program.  The girls will start open gym after fall break.  Monday, October 25 will begin tryouts.  There will only be JV and Varsity teams for the girls.  There is only a slim chance of there being a freshman team.  There are 3 games during the Thanksgiving week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.  The girls will go to a tournament after Christmas in Pickens County.  Coach Hurlburt spoke about the boys program.  During the week of Thanksgiving, the Varsity boys will play Monday, Wednesday and Saturday also.  Saturday, Novembe 13th will be Eaglemania.  The girls will scrimmage Harrison HS, the boys are yet to be determined who they will scrimmage.  Middle school teams will possibly play and be introduced.  Also, there will be an alumi game.  Coach has final approval for the boys to play at Daytona Beach, Monday 12/27 - Wed. 12/29.  there will be 10 teams in the tournament.  Schedules will be out soon.  Open gym will start for the boys after fall break.  Coach Robinson will be our home game announcer again this year. 

Football Concessions:  We made $1600 at the football concessions against Kell HS.  We need workers for JV and Freshman home games. 

New Business:  Debra Jones gave a report on our sheeet sales.  There will be a table set up before the Varsity and Jr. Eagle football games.  Send Debra an email if you can help work.  Also, we will post to the website about needing workers.

Opening Remarks:  Chris Brasher opened the meeting, welcoming all back for the new school year.

Coach's Update:  Coach Westbrook spoke about the new region we are now in.  There are many girls returning this year.  Coach is looking to improve on last year.  They are still working on the schedule and should have it done by the next meeting.  The girls have had a few open gyms.  They had a good summer and have good depth.  Coach Hurlburt spoke about the schedule.  The boys will play all the county teams this year.  The schedule is almost finished.  We picked up Marist for Home/Away games.  There will be a fall league for the boys.  They will take 12-14 players and play in a league at Pope High School beginning August 21.  Trey Olson will coach the team.  They will practice 1 ot 2 times a week and play on Saturdays.  There will be some open gyms for the younger kids.  Tryouts begin October 25th.  On August 12, Dr. Amy Varner will do a 30 minute presentation on staff infections.  There are staff infections going around the football team.

Treasurer's Report:  Chris Kiser reports that there was no activity for July.

Jr. Eagles update:  Carl Rush spoke about Eaglemania.  There will be a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade parent on the committee to help facilitate the communication with the Jr. Eagles.  We are looking to sponsor a tournament after Christmas.  We will need 2 gyms.  Jr. Eagles are in good shape financially.

Committe Chairpersons needed:  Eaglemania - Trent and Michele Donley volunteered.  Senior Night - Bonnie Olson volunteered.  Video for games - check with students.

Football Concessions:  Alisa Anderson reports, August 20th is the first game and we will need people to sign up to work. 

New Business:  We have made some sales for our fundraiser selling sheets.

Coach's Update:  Coach Hurlburt gave an update on the new gym.  The floors are being redone so we will not be able to use these until school starts.  The rest of this week will be morning workouts only in the weight room.  When school starts, the boys will be told when the Open Gym times will begin.  For the fall, Varsity boys will be in a Varsity League (8 - 9 weeks) 1 game a week.  Open gym and weight training will continue.  June was great for the Varsity boys, they went 17-6.  There is an exchange student looking for a host family, a 6'8" Senior.  We have a new slogan:  ONWARD and UPWARD.  On June 29th the Coach got a clean bill of health!

Jr. Eagle Update:  Carl Rush gave the following update:

1.  They will still use High School players as refs and book and clock workers.  They will be first priority to be selected but not guaranteed the job if they cannot do what is required. 

2.  Bob Heckendorf wll schedule the workers for the 5th-8th grade games. 

3.  Tip Off Club parent will schedule for Bascomb

4.  Mandatory training will be required for all workers.

5.  Trey Olson will do the ref training and manage the refs.

The Atlanta Hawks Jr. Eagle event date still to be determined.  For 5th grade and up, talked about assessing the $10 fee for the Tip Off Club membership.  Need volunteers to sell memberships at Bascomb.

Committee Chairpersons:  Chris Brasher reviewed the prgram event chairperson list.  We still need chairpersons for:  Awards Banquet, Senior Night, Eaglemania.  Eaglemania is the biggest need right now.  We will run it as we have in the past, involving the Jr. Eagle program.  Carl Rush will get some Jr. Eagle parents to help with this event. 

New Business:  We need to train some new people to run the Player Board for the scoreboard for Varsity games.

Coach's Update:  Coach Hurlburt gave an update on the boys program.  They started the summer at the Cherokee HS Tournament and had a 6-1 record.  There will be open gym on Mon-Wed. of next week, they will leave for TN Tech on Thursday for a camp.  He passed out information on the camp.  There will also be a FCA camp at Cherokee HS in 2 weeks and some scrimmages the 3rd and 4th weeks of June.  Coach Westbrook gave an update of the upcoming summer camps for the girls.  There will be a camp at UGA on June 18, 19, 20.  Parents are responsible for getting kids there.  They will be staying at the Holiday Inn in Athens. 

Treasurer's Report:  Chris Kiser reported at year end our 5/31 budget was $7000 in the negative, but we had bought a shooting machine for $6000 to be used for the new year.

Fundraising:  Debra Jones presented a new fundraising idea to sell microfiber sheet sets.  The Tip Off Club can purchase these for $20 and we can sell them for $35.  They come in full, Queen, King and Long Twin and in 8 colors.

Opening Remarks:  Chris Brasher gave everyone an update from the Booster Club's President's Meeting.  We will host another region tournament next season.  There will be 7 teams in our region next year.  For Junior programs, gym use price will go up for next year.  Transportation to all away games has been cut by the county.  The booster club will have to fund transportation costs for next year. 

Coach's Update:  Coach Hurlburt handed out the summer schedule for the boy's program.  The shooting machine will be ordered soon.  Coach thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers for his recovery and he was sorry to have missed the banquet.

Treasurer's Report:  Chris Kiser presented the budget for the 2010-2011 year.  A motion was made to approve the budget, all approved.  Any outstanding receipts need to be given to Chris before year end closed on May 31st.

Junior Eagles:  Carl Rush presented the possibility of hosting a holiday tournament for the Junior Eagles.  A preseason tournament is also a possibility.  There is a board vacancy for the Junior girls program.  Carl is working to set up the Junior Eagles to go to a Hawks game and participate in the pregame events.  He would like to make it a junior eagles/ rec ball and high school players night at the Hawks game.  The Junior Eagles program is committed to give $2000 to the Tip Off Club next year.  The Tip Off Club would like to offer the Junior Eagles and rec ball teams a seaon pass for $10 for the Etowah Home games. 

New Business:  Debra Jones presented a new fundraiser idea.  She will chair the committe to start the fundraiser.

Coach's Update:  Coach Westbrook gave everyone an update on Coach Hurlburt. He is doing well and thanks everyone who helped with the banquet, it was a big success.  Coach Westbrook is still working on summer plans for the girls team.  The plan to go back to North Cobb and Ft. Walton basketball camps for the summer.  The camps will run the first 3 weeks in June.  Discussed the possibility of getting a shooting machine for the gym.

Treasurer's Report:  Chris Kiser reports membership fees were waived due to paying for the new gym expenses. The Tip Off Club has paid a $5000 installment to the Etowah Athletic Fund. We are still in a good financial position.

May Tournament Update: On May 7th - May 9th, the Tip Off Club will host a YBOA tournament at Etowah's old gym and ET Booth. Dale Phillips volunteered to help schedule the tournament volunteers and be in contact with YBOA. We will send an email blast regarding needing volunteers.

Coach’s Update:  Coach Hurlburt commented on the region tournament.  He felt it went very well, was very organized and a first class tournament.  He thanked all of those that helped.  The boys program had a good year.  The varsity boys went back to state playoffs and he is excited about next year.  Coach Westbrook felt the region tournament worked like clockwork.  He’s never been to a better Region tournament.  The girls team has been a very overachieving team.  They are still in the state playoffs and ready to play Mill Creek this week.  Thanks to all the support from all the parents and fans.

Concessions:  Alisa Anderson reports a great week of concessions during the region tournament. 

Award’s Banquet:  Chris Brasher gave an update on the banquet.  It will be held on Monday, March 29th at 6:30.  We will need to have a good head count by March 15.

Spring Tournament Update:  Brian Wilt has secured a spring tournament for March 12th -14th for Etowah to host.  We will need to get volunteers to man the book, clock, and concessions.  We are also looking to host another tournament the weekend of May 7th- 9th.

Treasurer’s Report:  Jim Mueller gave an update on income and expenses.  Concessions made approximately $14000 for the entire year after expenses.  Total expenses for the new gym are $7300.  We will pay $5000 due to the athletic fund.

New Business:  Senior posters, senior slide show for banquet was discussed.  Lisa Langston will be taking on this project.

Coach’s Update: Coach Westbrook would like to thank everyone involved with Senior night, it was a great night for the Seniors and their families.  Thanks to Bonnie Olson for being in charge.  Two weeks until regional tournament, we need to make sure we have everything covered.  Overall, he is very pleased with the girl’s season.  Coach Hurlburt was informed the booster club will need to run the Freshman boy’s tournament on Saturday, Feb. 6.  We will need to have people at the gate, concession, clock, book, and food monitors.  We are splitting the entry fees with Woodstock HS who hosted the first part of the tournament.

Treasurer’s Report:  Jim Mueller gave the report. We had budgeted to have a $5000 deficit for the year due to new gym expenses, but it looks like we will come out better than expected.  We still have income to come in from YBOA and AAU tournaments and expenses of reimbursement for Golden Eagle memberships, and athletic endowment fund.  To date, we have paid $7200 in new gym expenses.

2010-2011 Executive Officer Nominations:  Rich Miramonti thanked Mike Mason for serving as President the past two years and Jim Mueller for Treasurer the past two years.  Nominations were taken for the following positions:

Coach’s Update:  Coach Westbrook announced tentative dates for the make-up games missed by the snow: January 30th, 4:00 Girls, 5:30 Boys against Blessed Trinity; February 13th, 4:00 Girls, 5:30 Boys against Marietta

Region Tournament Planning:  Mr. Dunnavant and Mr. Garity were present to plan for the region tournament.  Mr. Garity will be handling the signage for parking lot to direct people and buses.  The school will hire people to work all gates.  There will be a separate gate for players and coaches.  The booster club will need to provide food and drink monitors and concession workers.  We will block an area off for filming.  There will be no half time performances.  The scorer’s table will be extended.  We will need to have water in the referee locker rooms and player’s locker rooms.  There will be sign changes on the scoreboard and signs for where to sit for fans.  We will need hosts/ hostesses for each team. The hospitality room will need sponsors and workers.  The draw will come out on Sunday, February 14th.   The booster club will need to purchase 4 white boards for locker rooms.  Gerald Hobgood will line up hosts/ hostesses.  Alisa Anderson will schedule concession stand workers.  Micky Sewell will coordinate scoreboard workers.  Cathy Schmidt will coordinate the hospitality room.  The bracket will be posted on the web site.

Senior night:  Senior night will be January 30th between the varsity girls and varsity boys games.  There will be a reception following both games. 

Jr. Eagles:  Tentative date for Jr. Eagles night is Feb. 2

New business:  We are looking at hosting 2 to 4 YBOA/AAU tournaments this spring.  Possible dates are April 23-25 and May 14-16.  We will use both gyms.

Coach’s Update:  Coach Westbrook received a thank you letter from SCobb HS regarding gift for flood victims.  The alumni game was successful; we do need more women to play for next year’s event.  We need to start working on getting groups together for planning for the regional tournament.  Coach Hurlburt plans for the holiday practice schedule to come out next week.

Treasurer’s Report:  We have collected almost all players’ pack fees, memberships are up from last year.  Concessions have totaled $7000 for year so far.   Our ad money is down from last year.  The program is ready to print, need to have all ad money in.  We have a balance due of $5000 to athletic fund for the year.  The raffle netted $5036, selling 318 tickets. 

Spirit Wear:  All orders need to be in by Friday, December 11.

Jr. Eagles:  A sign up sheet was passed around for gym monitors at Booth recreation games.

New business:  We need to set up a night for Bascomb, Boston, Oak Grove, Chapman, and Booth players to wear their jerseys and get in free.

Treasurer's Report:  Jim Mueller presented the Treasurer's report.  The Tip Off Club cleared $5600 in revenue for concession stand sales during football season.  Thanks to Alisa Anderson and her committee for doing a great job.  Some expenses for the new gym include:  tables, chairs, refrigerator, and some office equipment.

Coach's Update:  Coach Westbrook reported we are expecting around 300 alumni for the opening of the new gym on November 14th.  JD's BBQ will be set up, players will need to sell tickets. 

Girl's tryouts were held last week; there are 28 players for 2 teams.  Unfortunately, there is only one freshman team in our district.  Coach Westbrook has set up an 8 game schedule for the freshman girls to play so everyone will get a chance for playing time.

Coach Hurlburt reported the freshman boy's team has been selected.  The Varsity and JV teams will be finalized after the football players have tried out.  The flu has been spreading rapidly, please remind all the kids to wash their hands frequently. 

Membership:  Golden Eagle memberships are on sale now.  The player package includes one adult membership; you will need to purchase another for spouse or siblings. 

Advertising:  We have 3 sponsors for the scoreboard.  Each player needs to get at least one business ad for the program ASAP.

Spirit Wear:  A table will be set up on November 14 selling spirit wear.  There will be samples of sweatshirts, hats, and t-shirts.  The last day to order will be November 21.

Concessions:  Alisa Anderson will be setting up a schedule for parents to work the concession stand during home games.

Clock for JV and Freshman Games:  We are training student ambassadors to run the clock and keep the scorebook for JV and Freshman games.  We will need some parents to help until the students are fully trained. 

Reverse Raffle:  Tickets have been handed out to all teams.  Players and managers need to sell 4 tickets each.  There is a prize for the player that sells the most.  There will also be door prizes given away.  Please try getting businesses to donate for this.  Tickets will be sold up until November 16.

Junior Eagles Report:  Carl Rush reported the rec leagues are almost complete.  There are approximately 700 kids in the program.  We will need to have a Tip Off Club present at a few Jr. Eagles games to be the gym representative. 

New Business:  There is some concern over getting in the parking lot for the new gym for home games.  The gate will be open and we may need to set up some temporary signs with arrows to show the way in.

Coach's Update:  Varsity boy's uniforms have been ordered.  The school will pay for them.  Tryouts start October 26.  There will be conditioning on Monday and Wednesday for the next 3 weeks.  All kids need a physical form on file to try out.  Practice gear will be included in the player package this year for the boys, it will be about $23 for a reversible jersey and shorts. 

Tickets will be sold on November 14 for a reduced price to get into all 3 home games on November 19, 20, and 21.  On opening day of the gym, there will be a 7th and 8th grade boys and girls scrimmage.  There will be 2 alumni games for men and women.  The Varsity girls will scrimmage Gilmer Co. and the Varsity boys will scrimmage Rome.  JD's BBQ will be selling outside. 

There has been a change to the schedule on Saturday, January 30 against E Paulding.  It will be moved to January 23 and be Varsity boys and girls only. 

Treasurer's Report:  We had our biggest night of concession sales with profits of $3400.  So far we have cleared about $5300 for the year.  Some purchases we will be making include:  training tables, chairs, server tables, food tables, and refrigerator.

We will be taking donations for some S Cobb players who lost their homes in the recent floods.

November 14 Gym Opening:  We will be doing a reverse raffle this year for our fundraiser.  The grand prize will be $2500.  Players will be selling these tickets. 

Gym management for home games will be the responsibility of the parents.  There will be no food or drink in the stands.  We will have to monitor this at all home games.

Advertising:  Janice Detz is working on the advertising for the scoreboard and program.  Each player needs to get one business ad for the program.  Emory Healthcare will be one sponsor of the scoreboard. 

Junior Eagles:  We need volunteers to help with the registration of the rec program for ET Booth.

Coach’s Update:  Coach’s pointed out items paid for by the booster club for the new gym offices.  Tryouts for teams will begin October 26.  All players interested in trying out for the teams need to have a physical form before tryouts.  There will possibly be a freshman girls team this year.  Open gym will be held in the new gym (when possible) on Wednesday nights 6:00 to 8:00 for girls and boys.  November 14 will be opening day of the new gym.  There will be an alumni game for men and women, a middle school game, and scrimmages for varsity girls and varsity boys.  The next week will be 3 home games in a row.  We need to get as many alumni and junior eagles to attend these games.  Possible fundraisers for November 14 were discussed.  Uniforms for varsity boys have been ordered. 

Treasurer’s Report:  So far we are on budget.  Concessions were good for the opening football scrimmage

Committee Selections:  We still have a few spots to fill for committees.  

Junior Eagles Report:  Tryouts for 6th grade travel team are this week.  Don Schmidt will take over scheduling of referees for Bascomb.  There will be training for those wishing to referee, keep the clock, and the book in late October.  You must attend the training in order work.  Seniors will have first priority on scheduling.

New Business:  Other fundraising ideas were discussed for the new gym opening.

Coach’s Update:  Coach Hurlburt gave an update for the boys program.  Summer play has ended.  They will be ordering new uniforms for the varsity boys.  The move to the new gym is scheduled for July 21.  The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for July 30 at 9:00am.  Prior players who went on to play college ball will have an 11x14 picture hung in the new gym in their college uniform.  We will need help in locating some of these players. 

Gym Update:  Mike listed some items to be paid for by the booster club for the new gym.  Items total approximately $3000.  We may need to help with the scoreboard too.  Also, possibly a refrigerator for the concession stand.  Other costs are sound boards for banners.   

Treasurer’s Update:  Jim Mueller presented the 2009-2010 budget.  He went over the budget.  Motion to approve the budget was passed.  Next month we will work on committee memberships. 

Concessions Update:  We will run the visitors side concession stand for Freshman, JV, and Varsity football games.

Junior Eagles Update:  Nomination of the new board members for junior eagles was approved.  The following are the new members:  Trey Olson, Jim Kuni, Bob Heckendorf, Cathy Wallner, Alisa Anderson as Tip Off Club Board rep.

New Business:  We need to ask about someone from the AV dept. about video taping the games this year.

Treasurer’s Report:  Jim Mueller gave an update for the year ended May 31, 2009.  The Tip Off Club finished with a positive balance.  Concessions netted $11,000, Jr. Eagles $8000, YBOA and AAU tournaments $9400, coupon sales $2900.  Other expenses incurred were the reimbursement to the school for member fees of $3000, and $2500 to athletic foundation.  The Tip Off Club will earmark the $8000 from the Jr. Eagle program for a specific item for the new gym.

Junior Eagles:  In July there will be nominations for board members.  The golf tournament was a big success clearing approximately $8000.

New Business:  Opening of the new gym for games will be on November 14.  Ideas were suggested for a raffle on that day to raise money.  Each player would sell tickets

Prices for the sponsor banners for the new gym need to be decided.

Etowah Tip-Off (Basketball Booster) Club Meeting

May 4, 2009 7:00pm

Opening Remarks:  Mike Mason  and Coach Hurlburt gave an update on the new gym.  There will be seating for approximately 2000.  The gym will open with school year 2009-2010.  

Coach's Update:  Coach Hurlburt gave an update for the boy’s teams.  Individual evaluations have started after school.  June 1 at 6:00 will begin open gym for the summer.  The schedule has been set for next season.  He will be ordering  new uniforms for the varsity boys for next season.

Treasurer's Report:  Mike Mason gave the Treasurer’s report.  There are no significant expenses due.  There will be more revenue from one more AAU fundraising tournament on May 15-17.  So far, the Tip Off Club has netted approximately $8800 from the fundraising tournaments.  There will be more revenue from the Jr. Eagles program.   Any surplus for the year will be earmarked for the new gym.

Spring Tournament Update:  Brian Wilt gave an update on the previous tournaments.  For the May tournament we will receive 100% of concessions and 80% of gate.  AAU will provide someone to run the shot clocks.  There will not be as many games as previous tournaments.

Junior Eagles:  Carl Rush gave a report on the Junior Eagles.  He met with the directors there will be approximately $8000 to $9000 given back to the Tip Off club from the Junior Eagles program.  For next year’s contribution they would like to see this in a tangible donation for the new gym.  They anticipate the numbers to drop for the rec programs for next year.  

New Business:  A motion was made to renew our contract for Constant Contacts, our email communicator. Motion was approved.

Financial Report:  Jim Mueller reported our intake from the first fundraising tournament was net $3400.  We paid the Etowah Athletic Fund the $2500 payment due from 2008.  The school has asked for reimbursement of part of the membership passes which will be $3000.  There was discussion of possible expenses for the new gym. 

Spring Tournament Schedule:  Brian Wilt gave a report on the first tournament.  It ran smoothly, no problems.  We were able to fill all the positions.  We have 2  tournaments coming up in April and one in May will need many more volounteers.  We have a chance to raise a lot of money for the Tip Off Club but we need everyone’s help to do so.

Awards Banquet: Thanks to Chris Brasher on a job well done.  The banquet was a great success.

Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 4 at 7:00pm in the Health room.

Coaches Update - Coach Westbrook  announced that Brian Wilt will be stepping down as Vice President after many years of service.  He thanked Brian for all of his contributions for the Tip Off Club. Brian will continue helping with YBOA tournaments. Coach also talked about a Wall of Fame to be included in the new gym.  This will highlight athletes who excel in the basketball program.

Financial Report - Jim Mueller presented the financial report with little activity this past month. Final concession stand earning were 10K. It was voted that we will make another $2500 payment to the Etowah Athletic Endowment and defer the 2009 payment to 2010 to make sure we cover all expenses needed for the new gym.

Board Member Selection - Brian Wilt has stepped down from the Tip Off Club board.  Susan Roberts will be the new Secretary and will work with Cathy Schmidt to upload meeting minutes and send out communication.

Awards Banquet - Banquet details have been made including dinner selections, speakers, invitations, and senior gifts. Invitations will be sent out using the email communication tool. The menu will include Pork Tenderloin, Chicken, Vegetables, Salad and Cake for $14.50 per person - players and special guests are paid for by the Tip Off Club.

Spring Tournament Update - Brian has secured the following tournaments for Etowah tip-off to run:  Girl's YBOA on 3/13-15, 4/17-19, 4/24 - 26 and AAU on 5/15-17.  These are great fund-raising opportunities for our program and great learning experiences for our kids but they require alot of personnel to run them!!  The club voted to add the tournament on 4/24 as an additional fundraiser.  All player families will be required to work 6 hours for each tournament. The students will be able to volunteer for the tournaments in April and May.

Junior Eagles - Carl Rush discussed a grievance that was reported on the amount of gym time issued to teams.  The time allowed for gym usage is strickly set by the county.  We have no control over their guidelines.

New Business - We would like to find a photographer to take pictures of all teams during the season for the website.  If anyone is interested, please contact Cathy Schmidt.

Coaches Update - Coach Westbrook relayed the end of season tournament will be @ Marietta HS.  Boy's first game will be Monday night February 16th & girls on Tuesday night the 17th.  If they win they play again on the weekend.   Gym is progressing.  We would like to see the region tournament at our new facilities next year, but requires a region vote.  Our last night of the season for Canyons is this Friday night after the Marietta games.  Canyons has been very supportive & generous to the program this year please be sure to patronize them in the off-season.

Awards Banquet - Tracey relays the date is set for Monday night March 23rd @ Hillside United Methodist Church. Time TBA.  There will be 2 menu selections to choose from @ a cost of $14.95 per person for parents & siblings that attend.  Players, coaches & special guests are covered by the Tip-Off Club.  Watch for fliers!  You will have to pay ahead of the banquet to reserve you spot.  The facility needs the number ahead of time & the tip-off club must receive your reservation money ahead of time.  We cannot take money the night of the banquet!!! 

Spring Tournament Update - presented by Mike Mason for Brian Wilt.  Brian has secured the following tournaments for Etowah tip-off to run:  Girl's YBOA on 3/13-15; 4/17-19 and AAU on 5/15-17.  These are great fund-raising opportunities for our program and great learning experiences for our kids but they require alot of personnel to run them!!  The entire basketball program benefits and the entire basketball program (ALL PARENTS & ALL PLAYERS) will need to participate!!  Both gyms will need their own set of gym coordinators, clock & book keepers, gate & concessions for the entire 3 days of each tournament.  The funds generated will be in the thousands, very worth the time.  You'll be contacted in the near future.

Junior Eagles - Carl Rush-  Bob Heckendorf has coordinated 3 gyms this year & it's a massive amount of work.  The gyms will be split up next year with each schools' basketball director responcible for coordinating their own workers.  There will be a more in depth training session for clock & scorekeepers next Fall before season.  Several of travel team players were selected to their respective age group all-star teams & will be looking toput their pictures & a write-up in the paper as well as recognize them @ end of season awards ceremony..

New Business - Using Student Ambassador volunteers to do clock for JV & Freshman games has helped.  They get volunteer hours & parents are freed up to watch the game.  Carl relays these kids can also get the training at the beginning of the season next year.  The final "school" nights @ Etowah Basketball will be this Friday night with Chapman & ET Booth in attendance.  The schools do announcements & signs are posted at respective schools for students to wear their basketball jerseys to get in free & come support the Etowah team.  This is a program we want to continue to get the young kids involved early & feel a part of the program.  We've been using poster board at the gate on each school's night.  Approval granted to obtain reusable plastic corrugated signs for next year.

Financial Report - Jim Mueller presented the financial report with little activity this past month. School paid for all but $1,300 of Girl's new uniforms.

Boys Basketball - Coach Hurlburt would like everyone to help support a fundraiser for former cancer patient, Tiana Welch, during the Woodstock game (1/27) by purchasing a t-shirt. For her senior project, Tiana is selling t-shirts to help fund and raise awareness of a summer camp for kids with cancer. The players will be wearing a t-shirt during their warm-up.

Sponsorships - Janice Detz reported that sponsorship moneys have been collected for all except one business. Plans are for check pickup and finalization by end of the week.

Senior Night - Shelia Mueller is organizing the event on January 31st. Planning is underway for the Program, food, decorations and activities. 

New Business - We will host an 14U State AAU Tournament on May 15th. We provide the facility, clock and book, they will provide refs and cleanup. This is a great fundraising opportunity but will require support from Tip Off Club members.

Financial Report - Jim Mueller presented the financial report. A total profit of $3,500 was made from the visitor's concession stand this year. The program needs to come up with fundraising ideas to make up for the loss of basketball tournaments this year.

Girls Basketball - Coach Westbrook expects practice participation by all players during Christmas break. Stats and scores for all Georgia teams can also be found on www.GASports.com. The money from the coupon books are due this Friday. Canyons was a big success and would like to meet after the games this Friday and Saturday night.

Eaglemania - Sheila reported on the results of Eaglemania held on November 12th. $164 in raffle tickets were sold. Would like to start early for next year and possibly have t-shirt design contest for new gym. Discussing possibility of midnight madness to celebrate opening of gym next year.

Spirit Wear - Orders were placed and Spirit Wear can be picked up at Home games in mid-December.

Membership - Katherine Jessee reported that 299 memberships were sold this year.  The membership cards will be available for pickup in the concession stand for the next few home games.

Sponsorships - Janice Detz reported that sponsorships have totally paid for the Varsity posters.  They are finishing up the program ads and have a few outstanding monies to collect.  The Tip Off club appreciates the commitment and efforts from the Sponsorship committee.

Junior Eagles Program - The junior eagles are also selling cards as a fundraiser.  The coaches are doing a great job with streamlining the ET Booth and Etowah High School basketball programs. Carl would like to propose use of gyms next year during Thanksgiving and Christmas for YBOA tournaments.

New Business - A representative from each team (JV Boys - Mike Mason, JV Girls - Brian Wilt, Freshman Boys - Susan Roberts) will report game scores to Cathy Schmidt to be updated on the website. Need volunteer to film Varsity and Junior Varsity Girl's games. Westbrook has volunteered one of his team managers to help with this. Sheila would like to create a new Fundraising chair for next year to help with expenses of the new gym. Some ideas for fundraising include Basketball hats, car tags, magnets, and t-shirts.

Boys Basketball  - Coach Hulbert has player packages ready with a price range of around $200. Picture Day is this Sunday at 1:30. The Varsity team will practice everyday to get ready for the upcoming season.

Girls Basketball - Coach Westbrook will not have a Freshman team.  His player packages will be $220 and include a $75 membership fee.  The coupon books are being finalized and each player will need to sell 5 books.

Eaglemania - Sheila provided an update on Eaglemania to be held on November 12th. There will be a parent meeting at 6:00 in the cafeteria during the Jr. Eagle free throw contest.

Junior Eagles Program - The rec and travel season is underway with approximately 360 players in K-4, 260 in 5th and 6th, and 124 in the 7th and 8th grade programs. Carl will need volunteers to supervise the gym during games.

New Business - Cathy Wallner will be the Treasurer for Junior Eagles. Katherine Jessee volunteered to be the Membership Chair.

Financial Report - Jim Mueller presented the financial report. A estimated profit of $3,000 to $4,000 from the visitor's concession stand this year. The club is also asking the boys that participated in the agility program over the summer to donate $40 to Coach Hamilton for his time.

Boys Basketball  - Coach Hulbert has finalized the upcoming season schedule for all teams.  Tryout outs will begin the week of October 27th.  We will have the first scrimmage against Gilmer County on November 15th with the season opener on the 18th. Our first region game will be 11/29 against Cherokee HS.  The coaches are trying to schedule games for the Jr. Eagles also to bring a large crowd for these games.

Girls Basketball - Coach Westbrook is planning to have 3 Girl's teams this year. Laura will keep the books for all Varsity games with backup from Michelle. Coach found a coupon book fundraising opportunity for the program.  The book will have a collage of basketball players and a season schedule.  The book will have local businesses and will sell for $20. He will provide us with more details before a final decision is made.

Eaglemania - Sheila provided an update on Eaglemania to be held on November 12th. The program, spirit wear, emcee,  and entertainment are being finalized. There will be a free throw contest for Jr. Eagles.

New Business - A training program will be held for all players who will referee and keep score for the Bascomb rec program. We need to secure a date for Senior night. Rocky Salet will send information to Tip Off Club regarding the advertising costs. This information will be sent to players along with an official Etowah "Thank-you" letter. Touch the Turf is scheduled for October 19th.

Financial Report - Jim Mueller presented the financial report.  A profit of $912 was realized to date from the Varsity/JV game visitor's concession stand. A motion was made to give a stipend to Coach Hamilton for running the agility program this past summer. The Tip-Off Club had no expenses for the month of August.

Boys Basketball  - Coach Hulbert has finalized the upcoming season schedule.  Tryout outs will begin the week of October 27th.  We will have the first scrimmage against Pickens County on November 15th with the season opener on the 18th. He appreciates Mr. Olsen, Mr. Wallner and Mr. Heckendorf working with the boys during open gym. 

New Business - The board decided against maintaining a hospitality room. We are also looking for a new Membership chair.  The Membership committee will look for various avenues to attract more Jr. Eagle players and their families to Etowah games. The date for Eaglemania is set for 11/12.

Financial Report - Jim Mueller presented the financial report.  A $9,000, 6 month Certificate of Deposit was purchased with the Jr. Eagles money. These funds will be used for equipment  needed for the new gymnasium.

Boys Basketball  - Coach Hulbert was pleased with the participation and performance of the summer basketball program.  The agility program increased the distance and speed of many participants.  He would like the players to continue with personal development by taking the body sculpting class during 6th period.  He also toured another Cherokee County school with a gym similar to our new gym.  He is hopeful that the construction will be completed as scheduled if not earlier. 

All County Organization - The coaches are actively trying to start an organization similar to the Grid Iron Club to recognize county wide players.

Junior Eagles Program - Carl Rush presented the new by-laws for the Junior Eagle Program. He is also in the process of appointing board members and coaches for the teams. the 7th and 8th grade teams will now be called the Jr. Eagles (instead of the Falcons).  A $500 scholarship fund for be available for player assistance if needed. Bob Heckendorf will be the Rec league coordinator and handle all scheduling for Booth and Bascomb. The program is looking for a league coordinator (Commissioner) to provide coverage for Booth and Etowah.

Etowah Athletic Foundation - Dan Blanchard and Jamie Harris provided an update on the progress of the football program. They are appreciative of the support from the Tip Off Club.

New Business - Denise Stone will no longer be able develop the Etowah Basketball program. If anyone is interested, please contact a member of the board.  Also, a basketball representative is needed for the upcoming Touch the Turf event.

Financial Report - Jim Mueller presented the financial report for FY2008 Year End results as well as the final FY2009 budget, which indicates a total of $64,800 for the upcoming year.  Additionally, the Jr. Eagles financial report was discussed as the current balance has approximately a $12,00 surplus.

FY09 Committee Membership - Membership was reviewed to ensure that each committee had a chairperson identified for the upcoming year.

Football Concessions -Transition of the concession stand to the Etowah Band Boosters was discussed and it was recommended that the equipment be provided to the band boosters on a one year basis at no charge with the requirement that the equipment would be maintained in working order. 

New Business - Jr. Eagle cash surplus was discussed and recommendation wa made and approved to transfer $9,000 from the account to a new account, which will leave $3,000 available for Jr. Eagles in FY09.  The $9,000 will be transferred to an Etowah Facilities and Equipment account, which will be established.  These funds will be utilized for the new gym when it opens.  Additionally, Keith Taylor announced that he will return in FY09 to do Varsity Girls and Boys games, which was much welcomed by all in attendance.

Boys Basketball - Coach Hulbert discussed summer plans beginning June 2nd. This summer will begin our first strength and conditioning program for players.  New strength and conditioning classes will also be created as part of the school curriculum for all interested players. Junior Eagles Program -The Junior Eagles has grown to over 1200 students. Carl Rush will create a few new positions to help with the expansion.

Boys Basketball - Coach Hulbert discussed plans for the summer program beginning June 2nd.  This will include a conditioning program run by Coach Hamilton, Open Gym sessions and Varsity player camps.  The player camps will include Kennesaw and possibly an FCA camp.  Players will also have a few scrimmages in July.    

Junior Eagles Program -The Junior Eagles and the Cobb County league are updating the by-laws to accommodate new additions to the program.

Jim Mueller gave the financial report.  The report included our main high school account and the junior eagles account.  Revenue is down from last year. Brian Wilt is working with YBOA to schedule additional tournaments.

YBOA Tournament - Etowah will host a YBOA tournament on May 2-4.  All players and families are encouraged to volunteer for a time slot.  This will generate a nice income for the Tip-Off club.  Contact Lisa Mason for volunteer opportunities.

Etowah Tip-Off (Basketball Booster) Club Meeting

Girls Basketball - Coach Westbrook will purchase new uniforms for next season.  He will also purchase T-shirts for the undefeated Freshmen and JV teams to be awarded at the upcoming banquet. Plans are being made for the girls summer program which will include Lunch and Learn sessions and 1 or 2 camps.   

Boys Basketball - Coach Hulbert discussed plans for the summer program beginning June 2nd.  This will include a conditioning program run by Coach Hamilton, Open Gym sessions and Varsity player camps (TBD).  He will conduct a mandatory parent meeting next Tuesday, March 11th at 7:00 to discuss the basketball program.   

Junior Eagles Program -The Junior Eagles (6th – 8th grade) will join the Cobb County program for the upcoming season.  This will expose our upcoming players to 17th other schools and build a stronger program.

Financial Report 
- Jim Mueller gave the financial report.  He is becoming familiar with the financials from last season and reported a healthy balance with a few expenses outstanding from the previous season.

End of Season Banquet 
- Chris Brasher organized committees for the upcoming Banquet.  It will be held Monday, March 31st at Hillside UMC. The dinner will begin at 6:30 and ceremony at 7:00.  Players and coaches will be paid for from the Tip-Off club.  Family members will be charged $13.50 per person.  The team moms will distribute form to their teams and collect money.

Sponsor Golf foursome for B-Ball coaches - A request was made by Coach Westbrook for the Tip-Off Club to sponsor a golf foursome for the basketball coaches as a fundraiser for the Etowah golf team. A motion was made that the Tip-Off Club would sponsor the golf team if the golf team would sponsor an add in our basketball program. The motion did pass by a slight margin.

Financial Report - Paul Dumesnil gave the financial report and also reported the the gross from the first two football games was each just under $1000.

Football Concessions - The sign-up sheet was passed around to get volunteers for the remaining football games. We will be hosting Woodstock on Friday the 14th and need several volunteers.

Program Ads - Denise Stone, our programs chair discussed sponsors for this years programs. We need each player to try to get at least one sponsor for the program.

Hospitality Committee - Vickie Hixon, Lisa Mason and Robin Salet all volunteered to head up the Hospitality Committee, which provides food and drink to the referees and coaches during the varsity home games.

EagleMania Committee - Sue Irvin and Rocky Salet have volunteered to head up Eaglemania this year. There will be a meeting soon to get the planning under way. If you are interested in helping please email a board member and we will let you know when the meeting will be held.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes - Bill Queen, Cherokee County director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes spoke to our club about starting a FCA chapter at Etowah for our athletes. FCA is a faith-based ministry who's motto is "one way to play - drug free" FCA sent both our girls and boys varsity to camp this summer, which was an excellent experience for both our teams. FCA offers Coaches Camps; "Behind the Benches" for coaches wives; Community Support for coaches, as well as the camps and Campus meetings.

Coach Westbrook (girls varsity coach) Update - The girls had a very good summer, playing 31 games in the month of June. Congratulations to the 14-U girls YBOA National Champs. The varsity girls will play in the Peach State Girls Classic on Saturday, January 19th. and the Deep South Classic between Christmas and New Year. The Deep South Classic is in Gwinnett County and will be held at Brookwood High School and South Gwinnett High School. Coach Westbrook is in need of someone to keep score at the scores table for every game and also some one willing to tape each game.

Coach Hurlburt (boys varsity coach) update - Brett Pinckard has been hired as a full time assistant for the boys varsity. Brett is teaching at ET Booth. The boys had an excellent summer, attending 3 camps and playing 27 games in 24 days. The boys went to FCA camp in Limestone SC and went 6-2. The boys varsity will be in a
fall league at Cherokee High School on Monday nights. This league will most likely be coached by William LoPresti and Carl Rush. The upcoming freshman and JV players will have open gym with Carl Rush...date and time to be announced. Basketball conditioning will start on October 22nd. Coach Hurlburt would like for all potential players to be working out at least 4 days a week throughout the next two months.

Junior Eagle Program - The Tip-Off Club will be helping with 6th grade Jr. Eagle try-outs. The Commissioner of the 7th & 8th grade rec league is looking for some volunteers to help with registration, assessment, and opening/closing the Booth gym on weekends for games. Please email
Carl Rush if you are willing to help in any capacity. The Tip-Off Club will be helping with registration for Coaches Clinics for the coaches at Bascomb, Boston and Oak Grove.

Financials - The coaches have turned in their wish list for this years purchases. Among those are a new video camera for filming the games and an Apex software package which is used to highlight individual athletes on a film and make CDs for coaching instruction or college recruitment. Half of this years payment of the "Endowment Fund for Etowah Athletics" has been paid to date. The programs biggest fundraisers this year will be membership, concessions and hosting YBOA tournaments, please get involved and help where you can.

Football Concessions - Thank You to Al Adcock who will be helping the Tip-Off Club again this year with organizing the football concessions. Al no longer has a child in the program but is offering his assistance for the 10th year!!! Thanks also to Stu Hixon and Rocky Salet who are also helping head up football concessions. We are having our concession stand spruce up day this Saturday at 9:00. Please bring cleaning supplies and come help us clean. The players are asked to arrive at 10:00 to help move items from the basketball concession stand to the football concession stand. The football team's scrimmage against Sprayberry on August 24 will be the first time for our concession stand this year. We are also looking for helpers for all home games. If you would like to sign up to help at any of the games please email one of the
board members.

Committee Chairs - we are still looking for people to help or head up some of our committees for this year. The most important one coming up is EagleMania which is the kick-off to the season. We will need approximately 4 - 6 people on this committee. Please let any board member know if you are interested in helping on this committee.
