Etowah 56 - North Cobb 61
The
Varsity Boys dropped another close battle
to region foe North Cobb Warriors by the
score of 61 - 56. Etowah now stands 6 - 9
overall on the season and 2 - 2 in region
play.
Etowah fell behind early as the Warriors
scored the first four points of the
contest en route to an early 8 - 4 lead
midway thru the period, before closing
out the quarter with seven unanswered
points to hold a 15 - 4 lead at the first
stop. Etowah continued to struggle on the
offensive end in the second quarter as
North Cobb increased their lead to
sixteen late in the quarter before the
close had the Warriors on top 29 - 14.
Etowah looked like a different team in
the third period, as the two teams traded
buckets to open the second half when
Etowah managed to outscore the Warriors
13 - 4 and cut the deficit to six midway
thru the quarter. North Cobb scored a
bucket from the inside at the close to go
back on top by ten at the end of the
third quarter that saw the Eagles
outscored the Warriors 19 - 14. Etowah
continued to battle in the final eight
minutes, once again getting within six
with just over three minutes to play. The
two teams traded buckets and Etowah
continued to climb back, drawing within
four at 56 - 52 with fifty seconds
remaining in the contest. Etowah was
forced to foul and couldn't get any
closer as North Cobb came away on top by
five.
Etowah was led in scoring by Zach
Okerblad with 18, followed by Chris
Brasher with 17 and Michael Brantley in
double digits with 10.
