Etowah 40 - North Cobb 44
The
Varsity Boys fell to 8 - 15 on the season
and 4 - 8 in region play dropping a low
scoring contest to the North Cobb
Warriors by the score of 44 - 40.
North Cobb struck first in the contest
hitting a trey to go up 3 - 0 as both
teams struggled offensively to open the
game. Etowah managed to tie the game at 5
half way thru the opening period only to
see the Warriors close out the quarter
with the final six points and the 11 - 5
advantage. Etowah got untracked as the
second period started by going on a 9 - 0
run to take a 14 - 11 lead. North Cobb
briefly regained the lead before the
Eagles went into the locker up 19 - 17.
The contest remained close during the
third quarter with the score knotted on
three occaisions early in the quarter
until North Cobb gained the advantage
late in the period by finishing on a 6 -
2 spurt and a 34 - 29 advantage heading
into the final stanza. North Cobb opened
the fourth quarter with a bucket to build
their largest margin of the game at
seven, when Etowah fought back to close
the gap to one but was unable to get over
the top as the Eagles struggled from the
charity stripe connecting on only 4 of 11
in the fourth quarter. North Cobb took
advantage of the Eagles misfortune at the
line as Etowah finished the night 9 for
22 from the line, with North Cobb
escaping with the four point victory.
Etowah wasn't able to put anyone in
double figures on the night as Zach
Okerblad led with 9 followed by Tyler
Blackwell with 8.
