VARSITY BOYS
Etowah 58 - Sequoyah 48
The
varsity boys won their home opener
against county rival Sequoyah by the
score of 58-48. The Sequoyah Chiefs
jumped out fast with the first five
points of the game with their hot hand
connecting on five treys in the first
quarter en route to finishing up 19-12.
The Chiefs continued to fire from long
range connecting on three more from
beyond the arc in the second quarter with
Etowah only able to get within six before
the Chiefs took a 36-26 advantage into
the locker room.
Thee third quarter was a different story
as a tight Etowah man-to-man defense held
Sequoyah scoreless for the entire eight
minutes while the Eagles put 14 on the
board to hold a 40-36 lead. Etowah put
their first bucket in the final period
before Sequoyah register a score and
breaking the Eagles 19-0 run going back
to the end of the half. Etowah didn't
allow Sequoyah to come any closer as they
increase their lead from four to thirteen
last in the quarter before the final
58-48 margin.
Etowah put two players in double figures
with Chris Brasher contributing 15 and
Ben Stone 13.
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys on
contributing to the sixth consecutive
victory over the Chiefs
