The
Varsity improved to 15 - 6 on the season
and 8 - 3 in region play as the Lady
Eagles had little trouble with the
visiting Murray County Lady Indians on
Senior Night.
Murray County tied the game after the
opening Etowah bucket, but then it was
all Etowah as the Lady Eagles jumped to
an 15 - 7 first quarter advantage. Etowah
was extremely strong on the defensive end
as they only allowed the Lady Indians one
bucket in the quarter while putting up
seventeen points to carry a 32 - 9 lead
into the locker at half.
Etowah opened the second half with the
first seven points for a thirty point
advantage, allowing the Lady Eagles to
enjoy Senior Night as they cruised thru
the last two quarters finishing the third
quarter on top 53 - 16. Etowah started
their three seniors in the fourth
quarter, Rachel Hornbostel, Alicia
Manning and Lindsey Mason at home for the
final time and after a couple of minutes
they exited to a standing ovation as the
underclassmen finished off the contest
with a thirty-nine point victory.
Seniors Lindsey Mason and Alicia Manning
each individually outscored Murray County
as Lindsey contributed 24 on the night
and Alicia chipped in 23. Rachel
contributed with 4 points on her last
home game.
Congratulations to the Etowah Seniors on
a great career as a Lady Eagle!
