The Lady
Eagles finished their regular season with
a convincing win over the South Cobb Lady
Eagles by the score of 73 - 56. Etowah
closes out the regular season 16 - 7
overall and 9 - 4 in region play as they
will host the first round of the region
tournament next Wednesday against the 3rd
seed from the opposite sub-region.
The game got off to a sloppy opening with
South Cobb leading after the first stop
17 - 16. Etowah was able to get untracked
in the second quarter as they scored 26
points in the quarter to build a double
digit lead at 42 - 32 heading into the
locker room at half.
The third period saw the two teams
exchange scores early until midway thru
the period when Etowah went on a 10 - 0
run to stretch the margin to eighteen
late in the quarter before a final bucket
from long range by South Cobb cut the
lead to 56 - 41 heading into the fourth
quarter. South Cobb opened the fourth
quarter with a score to trail by thirteen
but Etowah maintained their distance as
the host South Cobb Lady Eagles couldn't
come any closer before the final buzzer
with Etowah going out victorious 73 - 56.
Etowah put ten players in the scoring
column, with three in double figures as
Lindsey Mason led the way with 23
followed by Alicia Manning and Krysta
Lewis with 12 and 10 respectively. Nicole
Glickman and Jessica Wilt chipped in 8
each in the Lady Eagles last regular
season game.
