EAGLES 7th & 8th RECREATION LEAGUE
2006-2007 BASKETBALL RULES

1. Games will be played under Georgia State High School rules, except as noted below.

2. Games will consist of four (4) ten minute quarters with a running clock. The clock will stop for technical fouls only and during the last two minutes of the 4th quarter. A jump ball will be used for the start of the game only. The possession arrow will be used from that point forward.

3. Overtime will consist of a maximum of two 3-minute periods with a running clock. The clock will stop the last one minute of each overtime period.

4. No full court press (backcourt pressure) is allowed if the point differential is 15 or more points. Violations will be treated as a delay of game, with the first violation resulting in a warning.

5. Each player must receive a minimum of 1-1/2 quarters of playing time (15 minutes) per game. The playing time does not have to be continuous. Foul trouble and injury may alter playing time. If the playing time minimum will not be met for a player, the coach is responsible for making a notation in the back of the scorebook. Failure to meet the minimum playing time provision may result in league sanctions.

6. Any coach or player receiving two technical fouls or ejected from a game will result in a one game suspension.

7. A game can be officially started if a team has a minimum of 4 players present.  If 3 or fewer players are present at the designated start time, the game can be delayed for a maximum of 10 minutes. As soon as at least 4 players are present, the game will start. If at the end of the 10 minute waiting period only 3 players are present, the game will be forfeited.

8. Each team will be responsible for providing a clock operator or scorekeeper for each game.

9. The gymnasiums must be mopped & litter picked up after the last game or practice of the day. Each team will be assigned nights to sweep and clean the gym after practices/games. Failure to do so will result in a loss of practice time.

10. Only water bottles, no other drinks are allowed in gym. This rule also applies to fans.

11. All grievances must be submitted in writing to the league commissioner. A grievance committee consisting of a minimum of 3 Tip-Off Club Board members will address all grievances.

12. If school is cancelled due to inclement weather ALL events (including this recreation league) in school facilities will be cancelled.

13. No smoking or use of tobacco products, food, beverages, or littering in gymnasiums.

14. Foul language, loud remarks, and off-colored comments are strictly prohibited and will be grounds for expulsion from the game and facility.

15. No bouncing of balls or horseplay before or after your designated practice/game time. School teams have priority to gym an can not be asked to leave if they run over into your practice time.

16. Parents are responsible to get players to practice and games on time. It is the coach’s discretion if a player will be penalized playing time due to chronic practice or game absenteeism.

17.Enter ET Booth from the side door on left side of building. Enter Etowah through gym doors or gym lobby. Do not enter other areas of school. Alarms are set in other areas.
